What the rest of us
are actually paying.
Mahr.fyi is a community-reported database of real Muslim marriage gifts. Amount, year, city, asset mix. So the next conversation starts from evidence, not anecdote.

§ The record, behind a small door.
What everyone else paid, behind one tap.
200 anonymous entries are on the other side. Mahr.fyi runs on reciprocity: one data point in, the whole record out.

Don't guess a number.
Find a fair range.
The calculator asks a short sequence of questions — location, income context, asset mix, family expectations — and proposes a range grounded in live submissions and Islamic principles of ease. Nothing you enter is stored.

How it works
- 01Share a few context details — country, life stage, priorities.
- 02We benchmark against approved submissions from your region.
- 03You get a range — not a single number — with the reasoning behind it.

How we read
the numbers.
Submissions are anonymous, voluntary, and self-reported. We convert each local mahr value to USD using current exchange rates, then aggregate. Below is what the live database currently knows about distribution and origin.
¹ USD values converted at submission time using daily spot rates.
² Distribution shown on a log scale from $100 to $50K; entries above that are tracked but omitted from the chart to keep the axis legible.
³ Country counts reflect approved entries only; flagged and duplicate submissions are excluded.
Colophon
Why this exists.
Mahr is a private decision negotiated under public pressure: family expectations, cultural norms, and a profound shortage of real, comparable numbers. Mahr.fyi collects what people actually agreed to, anonymously, so the conversation can be grounded in reality.
